Creating a website from scratch is always a daunting task. Luckily, I have recent experience in creating a website when I was helping my mum start up her new company. I have a lot of fun designing and organizing, which in turn will definitely end up with me investing too much of my time creating an attractive website. The barriers faced thus far have been waiting for a long period of time to receive a confirmation email and learning the tools to design this website. I hope to continue using this website in the future to accommodate my journey as a teacher.
Using blogging as a tool for teachers is definitely underappreciated. Since becoming a post-secondary student at both Camosun and UVIC, I have became accustomed to both in-person and online learning. Websites such as BrightSpace have largely been a beneficial tool to keep me organized and prepared for my learning, and I have since recognized that K-12 education lacks in these tools. Not only would a system such as Brightspace benefit students in high school where they can access past lessons and prepare for future ones, but it would also benefit elementary students. I often wonder why elementary teachers do not have a website that documents their lessons for parental access. Many parents struggle with aiding students with their learning, which in turn affects the students academic outcomes. If teachers were to record or provide lesson plans for parents with additional resources that are applicable, it will ease the learning curve of parents and students alike. Hopefully, more teachers turn to offering a class website as I believe it would be beneficial for everyone.
